It’s that time of year (again) when drunk drivers roam the roads.  Although drunk drivers are a danger year-round, they are particularly prevalent during holidays such as New Years Eve.  Holiday parties, welcoming the New Year, and various celebrations bring excessive drinking which results in abundant drunk driving which brings vehicle crashes and injury.

There were 2689 alcohol related crashes in Oklahoma in 2021.  Of those, 88 alcohol related crashes occurred in Comanche County.  Six resulted in someone dying.  Statewide, 175 people died in alcohol related crashes that year.  Law enforcement steps up their efforts during the holiday season in an attempt to prevent drunk drivers from injuring others.  Unfortunately, they can’t prevent all the drunk individuals from driving.

The Scott Ray Law Firm is here to help crash victims.  The Scott Ray Law Firm has represented scores of victims of drunk driving.  Drunk driving cases are particularly challenging because the drunk driver frequently is uninjured in the crash.  That results in the insurance companies claiming that nobody was hurt in the crash, otherwise everyone would have been injured.  We take pride in disproving those claims.  One of the reasons a drunk driver frequently survives a crash unharmed is because he was drunk.  His body does not resist the forces of the crash like others do.  The drunk driver’s “limp body” therefore avoids injury while sober victims receive injuries.

The overwhelming majority of alcohol related crashes in Oklahoma occur in cities and on U.S. rural highways.  Surprisingly, interstate highways have the fewest alcohol related crashes in Oklahoma.  Most alcohol related crashes occur on Saturdays, Sundays and Fridays.

Victims of alcohol related crashes frequently incur medical bills, lost wages and property damage.  The Scott Ray Law Firm recovers those damages and more for its drunk driver victim clients.   If you or a loved one has been the victim of a drunk driver, call the Scott Ray Law Firm at 580-248-5557.  We are here to help!
